Luxim’s LiFi Twice As Efficient as Most LED
Luxim has announced LiFi, a tiny little pill-sized plasma light bulb that is twice as efficient as current LEDs on the market, and ten times more efficient than traditional incandescent light bulbs. At 140 lumens/watt, the lifetime for a bulb is estimated at 20,000 hours. [via Treehugger]
LA Changes to LED Bulbs
Starting in July, Los Angeles will retrofit 140,000 of its street lights with LED cluster bulbs. The plan will be implemented over five years, and according to LA News, Bill Clinton says: “if every major city followed your lead, we could eliminate 2 1/2 coal- fired power plants.” [via Treehugger]
