Mirdif City Centre, a 2.5 million square-foot, premier shopping destination designed to reflect Dubai’s position as an international city, has officially opened its doors to the public. Designed by RTKL and developed by Majid Al Futtaim Group, the super regional centre uses a Desert Villa concept to combine traditional retail, dining, cinema and other leisure components within a two-level retail space. Located between Dubai International Airport and the Mirdif residential district, the centre can accommodate 430 retail outlets, including eight anchor stores, and a three-level car park with capacity for 7,000 cars.

RTKL and the development team, including Holford Associates as the architect of record, were committed to integrating sustainable concepts throughout Mirdif City Centre. As a result, the project and seeking certification for LEED Gold, making it among the Middle East’s first retail developments to adopt the sustainability rating system used by the USGBC.
