The IIDA New York Chapter is pleased to announce the winners of the IIDA NY Lester Interior Design Competition.

Mancini Duffy: Fortune Global 500 Investment Center
This Annual Competition was established in 2004 to recognize extraordinary design projects and to honor the members of the New York Chapter of the IIDA for their contributions to these exceptional projects and the design teams that created them. Full list of winners after the jump.
Lester Dundes, legendary publisher of Interior Design Magazine, was a tireless advocate for the interior design profession. He was especially proud of having established the Interior Design “Hall of Fame” to honor the top designers in the industry. IIDA NY established the Lester Dundes Interior Design Competition to honor his memory.

Judges’ Comments: Great planning. Efficient modular sectioning, excellent clarity of design. Loved the incorporation of art which really reflects brand flexibility.

Judges’ Comments: Departure from traditional call centers, very well targeted toward their staff, a younger demographic. Great effort to steer away from an understandably stressful environment. Good sense of light and color. All translates to a “moving forward” approach to call centers setting the bar for like companies to do the same.

Judges’ Comments: Design takes a human approach for a warm user/patient experience. Nice logic to the plan. Inviting and comfortable without looking dated.

Rockwell Group: Morgans Hotel Group

Judges’ Comments: Excellent awareness and sensitivity to existing architecture. Eclectic and whimsical without going “over the top”. Beautifully staged and memorable. A user would remember staying there. Good use of form and texture.

Joe Serrins Studio: Marina Towers

Judges’ Comments: Simple, clean, sophisticated. The craftsmanship on walls and ceiling, which tells a beautiful cultural story is exquisite and perfectly harmonizes and accentuates but does not overwhelm. A unique and bold undertaking by this design firm.

Judges’ Comments: Functional with clean lines and well planned spaces, the salon has a spacious feel. The neutral color palette will promote calmness at the height of chaos. Timeless décor. Good friction between old and new. Terrific hair graphics add a bit of levity.
