Last night marked the opening of the Tim Burton exhibit at MoMA in New York CIty. The exhibit is a staggering look at the depth of Burton’s work that starts from pages torn out of childhood notebooks (a “list of jokes I’ve heard” includes “fart jokes” and “elephant jokes”), runs through his student years at California Institute of the Arts and rounds out with his expansive film career. From Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, to Edward Scissorhands, to Batman, to The Nightmare Before Christmas, to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and beyond. Here are some images from last night’s packed opening party at the MoMA. The exhibit runs through April 26, 2010.

Ah I live for this man’s creativity.
I… I… Wow, I need to see this. Somehow, despite living in New Zea;and, I need to see this.
Do you think the exhibit will travel? I’m like Neroli, I need to see this, despite being in Texas!
Will this come to the SF MOMA anytime soon?
I love Tim Burton.
The next movie “Alice in Wunderland” is fantastic. You have very nice pictures.
