At Syracuse University, the new Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Training Center has been officially dedicated. The project was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and implemented by architect of record King + King Architects and construction manager Hayner Hoyt Corporation.

The building is named for Carmelo Anthony, who helped lead Syracuse to the 2003 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship and now plays professionally for the Denver Nuggets, and who provided the lead donor gift. On September 24, Anthony participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and took the first official “shot” on the new practice courts. The Center is designed to support the university’s ability to recruit and train top athletes in the competitive world of NCAA Division 1 athletics.
The 54,000-square-foot building includes two NCAA regulation-size basketball training courts, a strength and conditioning room, an athletic training suite , offices for both coaching staffs, and complete locker-room facilities for both the men’s and women’s teams.
The Center is the first step in realizing SOM’s master plan to reorganize and revitalize the entire Lampe Athletic Complex. The organizational intent of the facility plan is to provide efficiency, focus the athletes on their practice, and showcase the Syracuse University Basketball Program.
