Charles and Ray Eames on The Today Show, 1956

August 2, 2009

Many thanks to Alice Rawsthorn and the NY Times for directing our attention to a cringe worthy video of Charles and Ray Eames on NBC’s The Today Show in 1956. The couple were there to promote their now iconic Lounge Chair for Herman Miller, and the host introduces Ray with “when there is a very successful man there is an interesting and able woman behind him.”

With that, Charles lets out a cringe so deep that I actually covered my eyes.
