The Noguchi Museum is commemorating its reopening in its completely renovated state with a presentation of Noguchi ReINstalled. The exhibition marks the first time the permanent collection is on view in its entirety since the spring of 2002. Through consultation of the museum’s photographic archives, the collection is presented as close to Noguchi’s original intentions as possible. The space is surprisingly large and holds the artist’s works in stone, metal, wood, and clay, as well as models for public projects and gardens, dance sets, and Akari Light Sculptures. The hauntingly pretty works give visitors a glimpse into the mind of the artist behind one of design’s most iconic tables, uncovering a depth of work that goes beyond what Isamu Noguchi is most known for in the design community.
