Milan 2009: Parupu, The Paper Pulp Chair

April 24, 2009

Parupu debuted in Superstudio and is a children’s chair made from DuraPulp, a paper pulp material developed by Södra. Parupu was designed in collaboration with Swedish design firm Claesson Koivisto Rune and is durable, colorful and fully compostable, lasting for the length of a childhood and then easily recycled. DuraPulp is a composite material that consists of pulp and PLA, a biodegradable plastic based on corn starch. It can be molded and formed and in many cases can replace oil-based plastic.
