2009 is Swedish rug manufacturer Kasthall’s big one.two.oh. Its factory still stands where it always has – on the shore of Häggån, outside Kinna, at the heart of western Sweden’s textile kingdom where its stunning woven and hand tufted rugs are still manufactured.

These rugs are at once sophisticated and playful, sleek and quirky, and head designer Gunilla Lagerhem Ullberg – who has designed for Kasthall for 22 years – has a unique and delightful eye for color. Kasthall’s Moss in green doubles as a luscious field of grass while Monroe in turquoise is an elegant and beautiful nod to Marilyn. Our favorite is the playfully speckled Tekla, which is newly available in 4 candy colors: Apple Sour, Raspberry Swirl, Fudge and Salmiak.

With a business that is partially vertically integrated, each collection of woven and hand tufted rugs, carpets and runners is designed and manufactured by Kasthall itself. Each Kasthall rug is unique and is manufactured to order, so orders are individually tailored to project and design requirements. This allows endless possibilities in the choice of colors, patterns and dimensions.
